HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteers are needed to conduct mock interviews, tutor G.E.D. participants, serve as guest speakers, provide resume assistance, and mentor participants of all Cornerstone Programs.

Cornerstone Career Development Center (CCDC) is an education, employment readiness/employment retention and supportive services program provided by the Friendship Community Development Corp (FCDC).

Providing a one-on-one approach to education, job search and employment attainment and retention.

G.E.D. | Get More Info
In partnership with Fill My Cup, Cornerstone Career Development Center offers on-site G.E.D. classes. Enrollment is ongoing and open to anyone age 16 and over.

Completion and G.E.D. attainment are dependent on the participants skill level and motivation.

G.E.D. tutors are provided.

The Results Are In
According to the US Census Bureau, the average earnings for high school dropouts is $18,900 annually. High school graduates can earn an average of $1.2 million during the course of their lifetime.

CORNERSTONE ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITY (C.E.O.)
FOR YOUTH:

C.E.O. for youth ages 16-18, facilitates skill building, life skill development and employment readiness through real world experience. Youth are exposed to financial management (inclusive of a poverty simulation), cultural activities, continuing education programs (SAT prep), tutoring assistance, employment readiness, internships and summer and after school employment.

FOR ADULTS:
C.E.O. for adults (18 and older) encompasses GED classes, financial management, employment readiness, employment counseling, computer training, Microsoft certification and other skilled based certification programs (HVAC, CNA and others).

The C.E.O. program is designed to develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace and to assist participants to become contributing stakeholders in their community.

EMPLOYMENT READINESS:
Employment Readiness Program: A two-week job readiness/job retention training course which includes:

• Basic Microsoft computer training
• One-on-one interviewing skills
• One-on-one resume preparation
• Life skills assessments and assistance
• Business dress and etiquette skills
• Financial literacy and budgeting
• Job leads and referrals
• Motivational speakers
• Transportation assistance
• Referrals to skill-based training programs (ex: HVAC, CNA & others)

RESULTS
* Since 2008 Cornerstone has trained 212 participants
* 77 Participants have become employed
* 85% of graduates of the Employment Readiness Program who found employment retained employment for 90 days
